Whitby Town v Hyde United When enjoying a weekend at the coast with the other half, what better to do than take in some Northern Premier Division football? What could be more English than the sound of leather crashing against willow as the sun beams down on the pristine white uniforms and lush, freshly mowed grass? Well, rain, of course, but thankfully we were blessed with a wonderful sunny day for the opening of the 2025 County Championship at Trent Bridge as Nottinghamshire faced off against Durham. Since dropping to four days a week at work, I have looked to fill my newly found extra free time with things work simply doesn't allow. This could not have been timed better as my Easter break started at lunchtime on Thursday so it was a perfect way to start the holidays. Sherwood Colliery v Lincoln United

United Counties League Premier Division North- Wednesday 2nd August 2023 A wet Wednesday night saw a trip to the Debdale Park Sports Club in Mansfield for a match between two sides who won their opening league fixtures on Saturday. The hosts scored an impressive 3-1 victory away at Skegness Town thanks to goals from Ewan Robson, Craig Westcarr and Marley Grant. Westcarr is now 38 years of age and started his professional career at Nottingham Forest, playing three seasons in the First Division before its revamp to the Championship. The visitors from Lincoln had to be patient against Kimberley Miners Welfare and came away with the three points thanks to a Jake Park strike with just over 20 minutes to go. The Ground The Debdale Park Sports Club is a multi-use sports club and the football ground is a lovely little set-up with three sheltered areas for spectators.
